For over 30 years, Christian faculty at UCSB have been meeting regularly for discussion and prayer. For decades over 50 faculty members have published an annual Resurrection Proclamation in the Daily Nexus simply declaring their faith (by definition: a confident trust in a credible or reliable source) that "He is Risen."
This year, rather than publishing the traditional Resurrection Proclamation, we will publicize the availability of valuable online resources on what are arguably the most important events in human history: the death and resurrection of Jesus. As the Lamb of God, Jesus willing sacrificed himself on a cross where love and justice met. His resurrection guarantees our sure hope of eternal life in the New Heaven and New Earth to come.

Why is the truth of the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ so important?
From Palm Sunday to Easter Resurrection Sunday
Lee Strobel spent two years of his life studying, researching, learning everything he could in order to disprove the resurrection and deity of Christ. What he found instead changed his life forever. He takes us through the four main points he found that shifted his mind and heart about the truth surrounding the resurrection of Jesus.
THE CHIEF PURPOSE OF LIFE
"The chief purpose of life, for any one of us, is to increase according to our capacity our knowledge of God by all the means we have, and to be moved by it to praise and thanks." - J.R.R. Tolkien
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2: 8-10).
"So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. (Jesus in Matthew 6:31-34).
